Colourstart Skin Patch Testing
Skin patch tests are used to help indicate to the hairdresser as to whether or not a client is likely to have a problem with the hair dye. Colourstart is one of the most significant advancements in the professional hairdressing. It improves client satisfaction and safety within the salon. Colourstart offer a simple, easy to use test, which is rapidly becoming a standard within the professional hairdressing industry.
Hair by Caroline use skin tests beforehand on colouring products which touch the skin. Clients are patch tested 48 hours before every colouring treatment to ensure there are no bad reactions; the records are then kept for future reference. Hair by Caroline will not colour a client’s hair without a patch test beforehand, this is to ensure the safety of the client. If a client is found to be allergic to the chemicals in the dye then there will be itching and red marks around the colour testing dot which is either applied on the arm or behind the ear. It is much better and safer to have a patch test beforehand to prevent an allergic reaction once the dye has been applied to the hair.
Colourstart is transferred onto the clients skin, the transfer will then identify whether or not the client is allergic to PDD (the chemical in permanent hair dye). Colourstart offers a simple, easy to use and practical solution to PDD testing. All the skin patch tests offered by Hair by Caroline are individually air sealed, with full instructions so the client can easily apply the tests at home 48 hours before treatment. Once the hairdresser has ensured Colourstart is on the clients arm, at the time of their appointment, they have proof that the client has carried out the test. The hairdresser at the salon will then remove the transfer, if there has been a sign of reaction, the colour treatment cannot go ahead; this is to comply with the safety standards.
